Turnpike Lane has slowly but surely become a choice hangout spot in north London given its revamp in places to dine and relax, as well as its shift in becoming a more cultured and community-minded area. Its cultural diversity shines through in every aspect; the street itself is lined at full capacity with a variety of restaurants which promise to take you on a journey every time you enter. Whether it’s Turkish, India, Sri Lanka or China, you’ll finish your meal feeling content and well-travelled. When you’ve had a hearty meal, you can down to one of the numerous bakeries for a sugary treat – Cake Box, Yasar Halim, and many of the Indian sweet shops will happily provide something to satiate your sweet tooth.

Need somewhere to shop? No problem at all – The Mall is just a 10 minute walk away and has everything from large high street fashion retailors to organic health shops and quirky, fun toy stores for the little ones. Turnpike Lane’s high street is one you can get lost in, and you probably will – enjoy every minute because you’ll find the hours escaping you as you wander around, basking in its buzzing uniqueness.

Fitness fanatics – there’s a great park nearby with outdoor gym for public use, so if you’d like some fresh air as you get your workout in, it’s a stone’s throw away from all residents in the area. The park compliments Turnpike Lane tube station and hugs it with its subtle greenery. Getting around couldn’t be easier because the station, as well as several bus routes, make travel incredibly convenient regardless of the destination. Even though there’s plenty to get involved in yourself, families also find themselves accommodated by the area by the numerous outdoor facilities and schools which emphasise the importance of togetherness and community-building.
